Black Marks On Clothes

I have had black marks on clothes when I have washed them. I read on some sites that I should carry out a maintenance wash to get rid of any grime or build up which I did. I did this with a normal powder detergent and at 90. However there are now small black particles of grime or gunge floating in the machine when it is in the rinse cycle. I have put it on rinse 3 times now with no clothes in and the particles of dirt or gunge are still there. Could this be the cleaning I have done has released this dirt into the drum? I am reluctant to put a wash on with clothes as these particles or gunge will mark the clothes. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Hi, I have a Siemens XL1600 that has just developed a fault, it will go through the cycle but the timer goes to 0 once it comes time for it to spin. I have checked the motor and basically the brushes had worn down the virtually nothing, I have replaced them but still does not spin, tried giving it a spin by hand during the cycle and that made no difference. I'm guessing the arcing of the worn brushes has caused a fault in something else. There are 8 pins in the motor connection but only 7 are used. Does any body have any diagnostics I could run with a ohm meter to check for faults - I beleive it may be the same as the motor used in Bosch machines....It is a nice machi…

This bolt head came through the tub of a Hotpoint WMD962(P)UK washing machine. I believe it was attached to the drum. I need to know exactly where. It has sheared at the point where the head attaches to the shaft of the bolt. The shaft is 8 mm in diameter. It is a Torx head. Thanks for any help.

Miele W844 - Repair Or Replace?

Hi, if anyone is willing to offer their opinion on my enquiry I would be very grateful please. I have a Miele W844 which is 10.5 years old. An engineer has been out today (from the list of approved repairers as Miele have engineering shortages in my region) and has said the Control Board is at fault. Taking in to account the part and labour, the cost will be £400ish to repair it. The engineer said he believes it is worth doing as the machine is in excellent condition but I have a niggle in my mind of whether this is worth doing. I have seen the blog about costs being relative to replacement and agree with the sentiment that expected life cycle is only relevant if a repai…

hi there, first post, only found this by accident after getting bit sick and tired of paying for an ex Hotpoint engineer to "fix" the WM63 only then for the fault to keep on coming back once he has left (3 times so far) and started googling "washing machine trips breaker on the net" as SWMBO is getting seriously uptight about it and I am getting annoyed at having paid an expert to diagnose a problem which doesn't get fixed. Basically a wee while ago (circa 12 -18 months) the wm63 needed new brushes as it refused to wash anymore. It had not tripped the RCD before that but once new brushes were installed it worked sometimes (as in completing a cycle without tripping) but …

Hi all, I have a Bosch WIS24140GB Logixx 7 integrated washing machine, nearly 4 years old and has been working fine. However, I am having a bit of trouble with it at the moment, this is what happens... When the machine gets to the rinse stage after the main wash, it usually spins for a minute or so and it also does spins after each rinse, however now what seems to be happening is, the moment the machine begins to drain and spin, thick suds come pelting down the door at an alarming rate which causes the machine to abort the spin and then fill up VERY high with water in an effort to try and get rid of these suds, it then rinses with this high water, drains and tries to …

Hi to all. As a newbie on theis forum I humbly ask for some help with my washing machine. Firstly have had a look in the washing machine fault FAQ's which were most helpful, though did not solve the problem, though may point to a solution, just need to ask before I spend money I have'nt got. I have an Indesit WT82T of 2002 vintage. It is very similar to the Hotpoint WTL500P though with 800 spin speed. The machine was installed in a property in France for about 6 months then put into storage for 9 years. Having read the section on fault codes I proceeded to see if the machine would be forthcoming and give me one. Any way this is what it does. Set the programmer to a spo…

My machine will operate for so long, then it seems when its time to start a fast spin it will have a few attempts then lock out. It has a flashing red light and two green flashing lights (I think its 2 & 4) I have the back opened just now and the belt seems ok and pretty tight. Any suggestions folks?? I repair boilers for a living so I am used to working on appliances and testing etc... Ally

Hi. I've read through all the FAQs and reasons for a machine not working; very interesting and informative, but I couldn't find my answers there. My machine was recently moved as our kitchen is being redesigned, and since then (yesterday) when it was plumbed back in, the cycle begins but only goes so far then stops. I've included a picture of the the program dial (guess it's pretty old: no digital readout!). I usually start a normal wash at H and it spins around ending I think on K, not entirely sure. But now it's stopping at J. I tried moving it on slightly by hand, and it did spin again, but soon stopped. It stops with the sound of a motor ticking over, as if it ca…

Thanks ahead EDIT: I'll be Glad if someone could tell me what kind of laundry each timer symbol represent (whites, everyday clotes, jeans and so....) .

Hi all, like most people I found this site after problems with the above washing machine. The washing machine would wash but refused to spin, so suspecting a blockage at the pump, I checked the discharge pipework which was clear, then I removed the filter and found some of the usual threads etc, but also found some small coins. I put it back together and expected it to work ok, but, whilst clearing the blockage I had laid the washing machine on its side for better access to the pump. Once I got the machine all put back together I tried a wash, but, it will not start. Power is ok, as the 'STOP' light flashes continuously when you select a program, but the 'DOOR LOCKED…

Hello there, I have a Servis 6033 washing machine which needs replacement bearings. I've had a look, and it seems that the drum needs to be lifted out from the top of the machine, is that correct? I have a bearings set, but presumably will need a new drum seal and door seal to complete the job. Any advice will be gratefully received! Many thanks Michael Fitzpatrick

Hi, I have an Indesit 1100 washing machine, I know very little about washing machines but can't really afford the massive call out charge, a while ago the belt came off, I had a look myself but couldn't work it out, someone we know came round, had a look and said the brushes need replacing, he did so and I had no problems, for a few days, I made a few attempts at getting the belt on, it kep falling off, I was eventually successful and had it going for about a month, I decided about a week ago since it was working I would put the back on, today the belt fell off again, I felt like kicking the damn thing, after three attempts at getting the belt to stay on it seems to be on…

Hi, My washing machine stops during the wash cycle with soapy water in. If I then put it on pump/spin, it pumps the water out in under a minute, but does not continue to spin. It just turns the drum slowly a few times. I hear a periodic vibration and noise which I would say is the pump still working, but there is no water left to pump. My only idea is that there is a sensor or electronic fault of some kind. Any tips welcome!

hi all - im new here so be gentle with me -- what i have is a bush A126Q washine machine that has been transported without the bolts in and im not even sure it was working before removal but now its not working the machine powers up and sounds like its gonna start but no water enters the drum - I put a meter across the terminals of the inlet valves and as soon as you turn the program dial to any position all four terminals read 240 volts but when dials is in off position there is no power to inlet valves - I thought only one or two should read 240 v so is this normal ? or should I be looking elsewhere for the fault ---- any help appreciated cheers

Hello forum, I have a LG WD80264 NP washing machine, who suddenly came up with ALL LEDS being lit, and no option whatsoever (no button works, and no specific error code is on display). After 2 mins, it turns off. If you unplug it, and re-plug it in, the same "all leds lit" situation occurs again, with no button response (not even power button). Any advice will be highly appreciated, as we know we handled the machine with much care, and been so happy with it for 3 years now. Regards, Mir in South Africa PS I attache a picture of the machine, with all led lit, as it is PS2: I have read the DIY Repair Help, unfortunately had to come to the forum as my las…

The Hotpoint manual provides guidance and a diagram for removing the detergent dispenser tray, which says to lift up and pull forward.. I've not seen one of this type before, instead of the usual tray that pulls forward, it has a swinging grey front door opening to 90degrees revealing the white plastic soap and conditioner tray. As the external parts are all grey, it is easy to see which bit of the white innards should be lifted and pulled forward as instructed, but no amount of tugging and wiggling has got it to move. Am I missing something here? I can't see any obvious clip or spring device. Anyone know how to get this tray out?

Hi, I've a hot point washing machine that had a damaged paddle - it came off and some clothes got jammed between the drum and the outer casing when pulling the clothes out I think I damaged something at he bottom of the drum because when I ran the machine it leaked! I've removed the paddle and I can feel a loose piece of metel and can stick my finger into a whole that feels like it has a ball in it? Any idea what I have damaged and if it's repairable? TIA

I'm now convinced our Hoover HNWL 7146-80 (washer Dryer) - wont heat up water - and im beginning to think it never has done since day it was bought. While putting on a new door seal I decided to test my suspicions about the lack of hot water in the tub I have now had the machine on a number of hot washes but never get a live & neutral to the heater And never get a live at what I assume is the thermostat that's positioned on the back of the drum housing I have tried a variety of programmes but still no warmth in the tub Any suggestions welcome Ian

I have the above machine and for the past few days the cycles on my machine are taking a lot longer than they should. Today the machine leaked from the drawer and beneath it. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
