Hi all, I'm thinking about buying a washer dryer for my apartment and am looking at the AEG L16830 or Zanussi ZWD16581W. Both are very similarly priced and have 7kg drum which should allow a reasonable quantity of drying per load. The Zanussi is quieter which is reasonably important as my apartment has an open plan kitchen/lounge. The cupboard with the hot water tank (which sits on a frame with space underneath and plumbing for a washer) is next to the kitchen bench top. I'm a bit disappointed about only getting 12-months warranty with the AEG or Zanussi as they are both reasonably expensive machines. I could save my money and get a cheap one but then the amount I can …

Hi I am considering buying the Beko WMB71642W but am unsure if its a good decision. Although it has generally good reviews I also hear that Beko machines in general have a relatively poorer safety record and that buying spare parts can be difficult and expensive. Has anyone had any personal experience of this model? Particularly repair engineers! Any thoughts or advice are welcome and appreciated! Thanks Jason

We have around £250-£300 budgeted for a new washing machine. With the help of 'which?' and general opionions gatered here and there I've managed to narrow it down to two options; the BOSCH WAE24162 1200rpm 6kg at around £230-250 or the ZANUSSI ZWF1237 1200rpm 7kg at around £260-280 I'm leaning toward the Bosch but that was really based on their reputation which it seems after looking here is not so great. The Zanussi had better 'which?' reviews (best buy if I remember rightly) but the Bosch has some good/reasonable customer reviews. Any ideas? I would want any machine to work out over its life to cost at most around £60 for each year of use. Also, the rest of …

Hi, I am about to buy a new washing machine and tumble dryer and can't decide which ones are best to buy. I currently have basic Bosch machines both around 10 years old. The tumble dryer is vented and my utility room does not have an outside wall so I need to change it for a condenser dryer. The washing machine hasn't really been used for the last 4 years and I would prefer more of the modern features. The 3 machines I have on my short list are the following. Miele W3922, AEG Lavalogic LL1620 and the Siemens WM16S794. The Siemens and AEG both have 5 year guarantees and the Miele currently still has a 10 year guarantee. The Siemens and Miele are close in price and the 1…

We are looking at replacing our Hoover with another 5 / 6 kg front loading automatic. Our options are: Electolux, 6 kg. Has a timer facility which I really do need. Bosch and Siemens do not have the timer facility. LG has a model which is loaded with features but it is made in China and is ridiculously cheap. The price made us nervous and we struck this off our list. I am in favour of the Electrolux model. Its just that I don't know much about Electrolux. Advice welcome, Thanks

Hiya Can anyone help me decide whether to buy a washer dryer or a washer? I had a washer dryer (hoover) about 10 years ago, and always thought that I would never buy another, because it took ages to dry the clothes (don't know if it was me not using it correctly) so I hardly ever used it for drying, however, I'm wondering if they have improved over the last years. Also, I have a very messy family (husband worse than the kids) so have lots of washing and wonder if anyone can recommend a good machine. I made the mistake of buying a hotpoint 6 years ago, and learnt a very big lesson on what NOT to buy. thanks! Janet

Hi there, We live in Gloucestershire and were unfortunate victims of the recent floods. Thankfully not as bad as some but enough to wreck a perfectly good selection of white goods. I gave our old Hotpoint WD63 washer dryer a few days to dry out before giving it a try and it managed about 15 seconds of a cycle before dying with a pop and tripping the circuit breakers. It hasn't worked since. Frankly, I'm glad to see the back of it as its plagued us with leaks from day 1. The irony wasn't lost on us that it met its end at the hands of a real flood as opposed to the puddles it spent much of its life standing in. Anyway, to get to the point: We are obviously in need of a r…

Nearly all new machines promote low temperature washes but I can hearing they are a waste of time. Any thoughts anyone and if they do work which make is any good at it?

I'm considering the purchase of a Maytag MAF9601AEW washing machine. I understand that these machines are built by Asko for Maytag. Does anyone have any experience of this model, (or of any others in Maytag's 60 Series washer range?) I have a slight concern with Maytag's backup as I know these machines are not too common in the UK. Would getting spare parts be a problem or take an inordinate length of time to locate? Many Thanks, Jon

Hi, I have just found this website today and to say I'm impressed is an understatement so thank you washerhelp! Sadly, my old Hoover 1100 Logic appears to have come to the end of its useful life and whilst I have read your interesting article on Miele, I really wondered what you thought about the AEG L62810 which I can pick up at John Lewis for a very attractive £299 including a 2 year guarantee and free delivery. My friend has an AEG (replaced Zanussi) , its virtually never off, but she is really more than satisfied. It was more than the price quoted above, but as its a built in model, they usually are. Freestanding is perfectly OK for me. Regards - yoj13

Great site-seriously didn't think there could be that much to write on washing machines but how wrong i was!!! anyway our washing machine bit the dust and am now in need of a new one pretty quickly so i have read through various threads and have taken on board the quality/reliability issues etc between makes. After reading so much good stuff about the miele's i thought i would look at them and bearing in mind our tightish budget the ones we could afford are the W1512 and the premier 520.Am i right in thinking the difference is a digital display on one but not the other hence the £30 price difference even though the John Lewis site has neither of them having a digital di…

Hi Our Bosch Maxx (WFL 226L) is giving up the ghost, can't manage to complete the wash cycle, stops about three quarters of the way through, and then I have to switch dial round to spin or rinse to get a slightly dryer wash load (but not much). Have had a local engineer come and check it over, and it needs a new circuit board, which is likely to cost around £250. Bearing in mind the machine is just over 7 years old I feel it should be replaced. It cost £370 in 1999. Have been doing some research and have narrowed the replacement choice to either the Miele Prestige Plus from John Lewis, or the ISE CI555WH, both are the same price £499, so that's not an issue, but at th…

I need to get a new washing machine as our AEG Lavamat 6100 is beyond repair as the drum is corroded and would cost too much too repair. What would you recommend? Originally was thinking of getting a Bosch m/c as they have always had a good reputation in the past. However on reading various opinions here Bosch don't sound as good as they used to be - build quality etc. Would like to get a machine that will last a good length of time, we had the AEG for almost 10 years. I have read here that it's better to get a cheaper 'good' make than a more expensive cheaper brand, but is this true for the Bosch machines as I thought the cheaper ones were now made in Spain rather than…

Hi, New to forum. Is no one else considering the Neff brand? I was told that the Neff was second to Miele and better than Bosch. I have had to replace my 7 year old Ariston integrated washing machine this week. It had never given any problems till now. Choice came down to AEG L14510VI or Neff W5340 which both have 1400 spin cycle. Miele is too expensive. Cheapest price I could get on internet for Aeg was £578 with 2 year guarantee and delivery. Found Neff W5340 at local dealer at £750 with 2 year guarantee and delivery. I had been put off Neff because all the internet sites gave the depth of the machine as 575mm which would make it too deep for my cubpoard and Neff…

Hey everyone, due to some unfortunate circumstance I am out one washing machine and the insurance will not cover anything. Currently I am looking through some used washing machine and the two brands that keep popping up in my price point are HotPoint and Zanussi. They both seem to be floating from 200 to 350, which is a good price point for me and I believe there is a repair man in town who works on them both. He is independent but I am looking at used washing machines so that doesn't really matter. At a glance, what brand would your prefer for a 3 person household? I just got back from meeting the seller I found on ebay and the machine was in much better con…

Here's a dilemma I bet will sound familiar - do I repair or replace a faulty machine? The faulty item was a mistake from the day I bought it. The requirement was simple: a washing machine for a tiny flat which isn't used very much. Shopping around (and, four years ago, without the benefit of the excellent Washerhelp!) I settled for a Hoover Six washer/drier, on the grounds that it wouldn't get much use and would probably last until I sold the flat. As I say, it was a bad choice. It takes an age to dry anything that isn't poly-cotton (towels are misery), so, though it washes well enough, it has been frustrating to use. Until last week, though, it had at least been relia…

Hi all, Firstly invaluable website, many thanks, secondly onto the question. I currently have an integrated washing machine and it is now time to replace her, not particularly looking for a washer dryer combo. My budget can stretch to £500ish, I have been looking around different sites and came up with a few alternatives, Smeg WMI16AAA - £502 - AAA - 1600rpm - 5kg load capacity - 1yr warranty parts and labour AEG L14510VI - £497 - A+A- 1400rpm - 5kg load capacity - 1yr warranty parts and labour - Baumatic BTWM6 - £419 - AAB - 1300rpm - 6kg load capacity - 2yrs warranty parts and labour, extended to 5 years parts Benk BKWM60Fi - £349 - ABB - 1100rpm - 5kg load…

My criteria: a width of 59.8cm or less. Anything wider and I may have to compromise on how level the washing machine is. a budget of sub-£450. initially, I wanted a 5-year manufacturer warranty. at least 8kg capacity a machine that supports a mixed load at full or near-full capacity a machine that lets you speed the programme up without having to reduce the load My first choice was the 10kg Haier HW100-B14876. There's an 8kg version but I prefer the 10kg version as the 8kg version is rather small in depth and there would be a lot of wasted space under the worktop. The 10kg version fits within the same footprint as our current 6k…

Hi Unfortunately, my old Hotpoint finally gave up the ghost because of this and because of a small budget I decided to purchase a secondhand washing machine. I have to choose: Beko WM74135W(1 year old),Hotpoint WMF720P(around 3 years old) or Hotpoint Eco Tech WMF760(?)- they are in a similar price and a similar condition. I do not know which I should choose:( Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Regards Simon

Hi, I am about to buy a washer dryer to replace my old washing machine and tumble dryer because of lack of space. I have narrowed it down to either the Hotpoint CTD 80P or the Hoover 7166 or 7148. Does anyone have any of these machines who could give some feedback or maybe general advice about either brand? Thanks

In the process of kitchen rebuilt, and we are intending to go with either integrated, or semi-integrated laundry rather then freestansing - I realise this limits the options! these are the only 2 machines I have shortlisted, being the : AEG L14510 1400 spin Miele W2839i WPM SS 1600 spin If there are any other high quality machines I`ve missed, please point these out, but don`t want to buy any old "tat" - already rulled out the Bosch/Siemens versions as know 3 different owners of these as integrated, all have had issues. Our existing machine is a AEG 88730 Update 1800 spin bought in 2000 which cost about £600, still going strong 7 years later, and never had an issue wi…

Helloes, I need a new washing machine and will probably get a Miele after reading the reviews here. The thing is, my son has eczema and I need one that uses lots of water to make sure all the detergent is rinsed out. Currently I'm waiting for a load to finish then setting the dial to half way through a cycle to give it an extra three rinses. Can somebody recommend a machine that is suitable? I should mention that I've about £500 to spend and I like silver not white. Thanks.

All I had to do was pop in washing machine reviews into google and what pops up as the No.1 result. Yep https://www.washerhelp.co.uk/ <fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/default_biggrin.png We are looking into buying a new machine (My wife and I). We currently own the Indesit W103 and while it has served us well for the past 3 years (Moving in gift from the outlawz) it is now starting to cause more problems than it's worth. The belt has come off 3-4 times in 4 months. The pump clogged, it stopped draining properly and the programme select had a mid life crisis and decided it would do as it please. Though we are very fortunate that where we live, we have a…
