Firstly I would like to thank the people who maintain this forum, I find it very informative. My problem in brief: I have a 16 month old, Candy washing machine. I used it the other day and didn't notice any problems. In the evening I went to work (did a night shift), when I came back in the morning my housemate told me there was a hole in the drum. I inspected it and saw that the inner drum (the metal one) is torn; the tear is about 3 cm. The outer drum (the plastic one) also has a hole of about 1 cm, it is irregular shape, close to the bottom of the drum and the heater rods and match the position of the other one. I can only assume that something got caught between th…

Hello everyone,I'm a desperate woman suffering from excessive lint/dust with my laundry as the title suggest and here is the story in short hoping i'd get some help. I've basically been doing laundry all my life. Since early teenage years, it was my responsibility so one could say i know how to do laundry. When my boyfriend and i moved in together, we had a complete empty flat "a brand new one, we were the first tenants". The first hing we've purchased were the essentials, fridge, an LG washing machine, and a bed. this is when the nightmare started, i would see (purplish color) lint on the corners of the floor. Initially i thought this was from the central Air condit…

Hello everyone, I hope someone could give me some advice on what options I have.... A number of years ago I purchased an LG washer/ dryer from Curry's for £750 and it lasted just under 2 years. It was out of warranty and was uneconomical to repair as it needed a new circuit board. I lost out and had to buy a new washing machine with a 5 year warranty, which lasted a happy 5 years, albeit with a couple of repairs along the way to keep it going. So, in March 2012, I purchased a new Samsung washing machine from Dixons online (Now under Curry's) for £450 which was sold to me with a 5 year parts and labour warranty. All been fine for first 2 and half years but now is need o…

I have a zanussi washing machine which I bought in May 2017. It is connected to mains soft water. It serviced a family of 3. I used it on average about 4 times a week / every other day. In August 2018 the pump failed. I got an e20 message and water would not drain. Engineer came and replaced the pump, cost me £73. He couldn't find anything that would cause the pump to fail. In March 2019, 8 months later, the pump failed again. Another £71 this time as the pump was outside of its 6 month warranty.... It has failed again for a third time on 9th November 2019. I don't want to pay another £70 odd pounds for a fourth pump, nor do I feel I should fork out another several hundre…

Whirlpool has issued a recall notice on some of its models of washing machines due to a potential safety concern. It affects certain models of Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines made between October 2014 and 2018 and it is feared more than 11,000 machines in UK & Ireland may be impacted. A flaw with the door-locking system may lead them to overheat and potentially catch fire. Whirpool launched an urgent recall of certain models of tumble dryers over fire safety fears in July of this year. If you think your washing machine might be affected, you can check by calling 0800 316 1442 or by visiting https://washingmachinerecall.whirlpool.co.uk He…

Hello I have a Hoover VHD65D washer dryer that I bought from a large well known electrical store. I have had the machine for approx 1 year and in this time it has developed the same fault ( drier fails to heat up) 3 times. I have contacted Hoover and arranged for the repairs under the guarantee which they have done, however, I am unhappy as the fault has developed again and would like a replaced. Today I have said this in an email and they replied saying, see below Thank you for your e-mail regarding repairs to your Hoover washing machine, model number not specified, but logged on our database as a VHW65D, the content of which is duly noted. We are sorry to learn of yo…

Do I need External filter to use it with my washing machine? The seller told me that you need filter before the water goes to the washing machine to protect the machine. I'm not sure if i need one just because I have a filter near my water tank (here we use water tanks to get water) do I need to add the extra filter I should I ignore it?

Hi 3 months ago we bought a Samsung Ecobubble WF80F5E2W4W from Currys which worked fine until last week when it developed a fault where it would run normally for a few minutes then trip the power to all the sockets in the house. Fuse, cable and socket were checked and were fine. We suspected the heater element because it would run the cold water, rinse and spin programmes without a problem, and only tripped the power when it was trying to heat up its water. It wasn't displaying any error codes. As it was still under warranty we called Currys and they sent out an engineer who confirmed the heater element had failed and had gone open circuit, and replaced it and …

I bought a Samsung Washing machine from a large retailer on November 6th so is around 9 months old. We have noticed a number of small holes appearing in clothes over the last few months. We eventually figured out it is the washing machine by checking every item before it gets washed, but originally blamed the kids or the cat or anything else. The manufacturer say the machine is perfect, but spins so fast that it pushes the material through the holes and onto the sharp edges on the outer edge of the drum causing the damage. I accept that this is a valid explanation of what is happening, but wanted to see if anyone else had had a similar experience as I do not believe i…

I have a Hotpoint WMFUG 842 about 1 year old. Most of the time it is absolutely fine but on the odd occasion there is a small puddle of water on the floor which occurs towards the end of the cycle. It tends to happen on the clean out program also but again, not every time. I think the water is clean, it looks it and there is no smell and it seems to be coming out from the front of the machine. I just assumed it was the door seal but not sure as the seal seems fine. Does anyone know what may be causing this as it is baffling me as to why it only ever occasionally happens. Thanks

Hi, five week old machine flooded. On checking inner drum, obvious upward dents. On checking under the machine, two holes can be seen in the plastic outer drum. Now having read several posts all pre Consumer Rights Act 2015, the obvious blame seems to rest on a coin. My understanding on the Consumer Rights Act 2015 is that the onus of proof now lies with the retailer, so if on inspection no coin is found then they should be held liable for replacement. Any thoughts? Besides all of this I would also argue that any machine only in use for five weeks should be able to withstand a coin. Any thoughts?

Hi, My 5.8KG top loading fully automatic washing machine does not spin fast. On wash mode, it spins slowly and drains available water. After that all the lights on control panel blink with beep sound (as if it was overloaded)for a minute and machine stands by. The machine doesn't spin fast and doesn't squeeze the extra water from the clothes. This issue started about 4 weeks ago. I tested the machine without any clothes, the issue is same. I have to manually squeeze and dry out. Even the air dry option or whatever the options that require the machine to spin fast doesn't work. Please suggest what to do.. Any sort of help is appreciated. Thanks …

Dear All I have a wirlpool AWM 7080 that has one problem. The program knob rotates himself and after 14 clicks, stops a few second and then restarts turning around. After some 1 or 2 minutes, the water pump starts for a few seconds and stops and stops the program knob for rotating and nothing else happen. If I turn off and turn on again repeats the same. Somebody tell to take out the power cord for at least 10 mints, for reset I suppose, but does not work. Can somebody help me? Best regards CPalha

Hi All, When I bought a (integrated) washer dryer 30 months ago, I chose to shell out extra (£600) and buy what I taught was a reputable brand - AEG. Several weeks ago the machine has started to make grinding sounds during the spin cycle and having spoken to 2 independent engineers over the phone, they both suspect it is the bearings. The model appears to have a welded drum assembly which means the entire drum will need to be replaced. Parts alone will cost £190... and by the time I have paid labour, I suspect the final bill will be closer to £300... There are only 3 people in my household. However, with a 5 year old, the machine is probably in use everyday if not 5-6 …

Hi there, just looking for some advice really. Bought a brand new hotpoint washing machine from Very, 2 months in and it breaks down showing the error code F05. An engineer was sent, and said we need a new power module/motor. I understand that appliances such as this that break down within the first 6 months are deemed to have been faulty at sale, so we contacted Very and Hotpoint and both did not want to take responsibility. Hotpoint later said we may qualify for a replacement machine, but in the mean time they wanted to fix the problem. We agreed to this, only to be told it will be 5 weeks till they could fix it! Today was the day off the fix. Engineer came, replaced …
