Miele washing machines
- This forum is for anything to do with Miele washing machines - BUT NOT repairs
- All repair questions need to be in the following forum - UK Washing Machine Repair Questions
This is because most faults are not specific to a brand. Most faults and fixes are the same for all washing machines. Splitting faults up into different brans causes much duplication and fragmentation of answers

I take recommending specific washing machines very seriously. I currently recommend Miele washing machines as probably the best washing machines available in the UK. As part of my commitment to giving good advice I have opened this special forum up for you to give feedback on, and ask questions about anything related to buying a Miele washing machine. If you buy any washing machine recommended by Washerhelp I will try to give help and support, especially if you buy through a Washerhelp link which can help keep the site running. Please post your opinion of the washing machine, any questions you may have prior to buying one and even any problems you may encounter after…

we are moving house next Friday - we were going to get my best friends old spare indesit washer to help us out of a hole for the first few months, however after a few tests hte old thing isnt very relieable its keeps stopping mid program and refuses to drain therefore to save a few quid we have thought about getting a 2nd user miele of about 2-3 years old for about the same if not less than a new bosch/aeg/similar. After all, like my old vw, a good well built machine doesnt become a badly built machine over such a short period of time. the only downside i can think of is a lack of warranty but a £500+plus machine for £150 seems like a good idea. does this sound lik…

I understand the site owner wants to keep those kind of questions off this forum. Can anyone suggest where I might look for that kind of advice? Is there another forum around that might have members with the expertise to advise on general questions regarding faults with Miele washing machines?

Due to a lack of spin from our old (6yrs) Zanusi we were eventually driven to consider a new washing machine. We had only recently comletely redone our kitchen with a white theme and at that time the existing Miele range was that yuck creme colour and so was not considered and we stuck with our existing machine. I was therefore happy to see that Miele have now changed to awhite for their appliances. Following further investigation of speification and cost we opted for the W1514. Duly ordered on a friday morning it was delivered that afternoon. We carefully read the instructions and connected up. One thing I wouls say is that it is heavy at 99kg which is a good thing as…

I am about to buy a washing machine for my new flat. I have been advised to buy a Miele - and after doing some research I have come across your site and other reviews all recommending Miele. Does the Miele Premiere 520 or W1512 have Aquastop? To prevent flooding should it leak? I intend to do the majority of my washing when I am not at home. I also notice that John Lewis don't stock any of these models but has other models with different names? Thanks.

Many thanks to you for your website’s information. It helped my fiancé (now wife) and I decide on what washer to buy since our Hotpoint broke down again. I suppose it’s wasn't bad after 7 years but it has been repaired four times. It had been vibrating very badly during the spin cycle and there was a lot of dark grey grease and powder under the machine but it’s finally decided to no longer sense that the waster has emptied out before spinning. I cleared the sump filter as you mentioned on the website (found half a bra, 72p in change, some chain and a small mosaic stone). Anyway, we decided on a Miele 526 and got it at a great price from our local Comet in Leicester’s Fos…

Wouldn't it be useful for a high end machine to have a built in scale that can measure the weight of the laundry e.g. 3kg for Express Wash. So you would know the weight limitations for each program and load optimally as you view the weight on an LCD as you are loading the drum.

Hi, I'm looking to purchase either and W5877 Edition 111 or an W1901 in the next few days. I need help to decide which one to buy and why. My local dealer prices for each are: W5877 Edition 111 (8Kg) - £1149 (before £50 cash back) includes 10 year warranty. W1901WPS (7kg) - £1170 includes 5 year warranty. I like the modern look of the W1901, but: 1) Is there anything the 1901 does better than the W5877. 2) Why is it noisier than the W5877? Is it because it doesn't have a brushless motor? 3) Is the spin noisier than the 5877? 4) Miele said the W5877 has 4 shock absorbers as opposed to 3 in the W1901. Is this true? 5) Are the white plastic trims on Miel…

After hassle with cheap washing machines that don't last I've decided to get a W3240/A. Since we've decided to bite the bullet Currys have never had any in stock! Quite frustrating but we can wait... we have vouchers so are tied to them. It seems to be available elsewhere online but Comet has no stock either I noticed. Is this model being phased out or just very popular ?

Mr. Washerhelp! So we dont spoil our dtergent drawer and avoid the chore of cleaning it regularly we have been adding powder to the drum directly. I have been told this is less effective than putting it in the drawer. We use the drawer only for Fabric Softner. What is your opionion on this? Thanks Ricky

I find it strange why on lower models, the maximum spin speeds on certain programs are lower than on higher models, *even though the lower models can accomodate that spin speed*. e.g. all examples below refer to potential 1200rpm which all machines can spin at Premier 520 top spin speed is 1200rpm, W3240 is 1400rpm and W3922 is 1600rpm Program..................Premier 520......|.....W3240....|.....W3922........ Minimum Iron..............900rpm...............1200rpm.........1200rpm.......... Automatic....................900rpm................900rpm...........1200rpm..........

Hi Washerhelp - I'm a returning member, but, as ever, a great site. Looking to get a new washer. Probably a Miele, based on what I've read at Washerhelp. Was interested in the LG direct drive system, but sort of gone cool on it after reading your review. (Not to say that it is a bad product, of course...) Just wondering if Miele has an out of balance spin function? When I went into my local supplier to talk about getting a new washer, this out of balance issue came up. He said he has a Miele but there are still times when it gets out of balance. Seems like there is no getting away from it. Anyway any advice (or thread you could point me to) would be appreciated. …

It's been suggested to me that as a guarantee may not include limescale damage, then unless I'm in a softwater area I'll probably still need to replace the washing machine before the 10 years is up? Just when I thought I'd made up my mind to pay the extra and go ahead! Can you give me any advice on this?

Does anyone know if the LEDs remain lit when washing (providing a washing spectacular show, or unspectacular depending what's in the wash )? - or if they only come on when loading and unloading? and if the Silent Professional Motors of these machines are quieter for the £200+ quid step up from the W3240? I'm confused as what to get, I think I've discounted AEG, I thought I was going to get the W1512 for £430, then saw the 10 year guarantees on the above said models. W3240 is £634, so £200 more but with a 10 year warranty, which makes the W1512 seem poor value. The W3922 is about £833 so another £200 more than the W3240, but with LEDs and Silent Pro Motor and the …

A while ago I posted that I was having problems with my 11 year old MieleW980 washing machine. While waiting for the lovely man from Miele who sorted everything outfor me I decided to re read the instruction manual. I have discovered that pressing several buttons at once I can access programme features additional to the ones shown on the no nonsense dial. I have now programmed the machine to start by flushing both of the draws in the powder tray. This has been very useful as we live in an extremely hard hardwater area. I now put some powder and a small amount of soda in the prewash tray (which flushes first) and thenput the rest of the powder and a limescale prevention…

Hi, I am considering purchasing a Miele W3240 (£668 from Dixons) which is currently part of the 10yr warranty promotion. This promotion ends on the 28th of February, so I am wondering if I should rush to buy before the deal expires, or will it come round again soon enough? Our current machine is an incredibly noisy 8yr old Hoover Soft Wave 1100 which refuses to die. This backs onto a room which will soon become a nursery for our first child ( due July 30th). So we would like to replace the Hoover before this date with something quieter. What's the chance of the 10 year Miele promotion being back on before then ? Or can I put up with the Hoover for a while long…

How long is the anti-crease cycle in a Miele Premier Novo washing machine? I've just aquired this machine and am currently runnning a cycle and am wondering if the anti-crease cycle only finishes when I switch the machine off.

Can anyone advise how quiet these two machines are, Miele’s website only gives insulation levels not decibels. We are comparing these with Siemens similar priced machines and they give decibel levels on their site. Both manufacturers are offering 10 year guarantees on various models (offer expires end Jan (Siemens) and end Feb (Miele) Have tried Kelko for comparisons on noise but these models didn’t appear to be listed. Any information would be greatly appreciated on the above and comparisons of build quality. Many thanks.

Hi I have just taken delivery of a miele washer/dryer but the fellow who installed it didn't take the plastic cover on the front of the glass door. i rang Miele and they said it should come off with a screwdriver. I tried very gently but the plastic sheet cracked and I am having trouble getting it off the door. Do you have any suggestions? it is not mentioned in the manual thanks Sweal

Just took delivery of a Miele washing machine today, and the instructions say that if you have a flloor made of floorboards (which we have), the machine should be mounted on a plywood plinth with stops fitted to prevented the machine vibrating off it (I really can't see that happening!). Question is, how necessary is it really to have the plinth and if it is, how available are the stops (these are Miele spares apparently)? Thanks.
