I've recently moved into a new flat and bought a washing machine. Come to install it, and there's nowhere for the outlet pipe to go. It's in a kitchen with a section of space for the washing machine where the hot/cold inlets are, but nowhere for the outlet. Under the sink there's a pipe where I guess it could go but no way for it to reach. I appreciate it's difficult to suggest anything without seeing it but does anyone have any suggestions? I've no idea what to do.

For reasons beyond this post's topic I unboxed my machine (Beko WTG620M1W 6kg 1200rpm Freestanding Washing Machine) after the return period expired and it had a defect in the back (see attached pictures). It's basically a long split in the bottom part of the back. My question is: could this affect the machine's long term function or life expectancy somehow?

Hi all, hope you can help. I've moved in with the Mrs and discovered that the washing machine is plugged into the hot tap. I've never heard of a machine where it's not supposed to be plugged into the cold, so I figured I'd check online to make sure, but I can't find any reviews or a user manual on the internet and the Swan helpline isn't open on weekends so I'm a little stuck. Could anyone confirm if it's got its own heating unit and I should switch it to the cold tap? Thanks in advance!

I am New to this forum and need a place to gather information about my washing machine to understand it better and to be able to maintain it properly. What i have is a Miele W149 "Novotronic" from around 2001 so it`s basically 20 year old now. It is still alive and well and pulling its weight. That being said i did replace the two bearings oh maybe two years ago due to a terrible ruckus from the old bearings. It was quite the job for someone who has never touched a washing machine before but i got er done. Ok, cutting to the chase. What are the most typical issues when dealing with 20 y.o. old washers. The motor seems to be working just fine so hoping this will last …

I bought a Whirlpool washing machine 5 years ago and paid £219.99 extra for an extended warranty. If I did not have a call out I qualified for the £219.99 Cashback. I was under the impression that the Powerhouse agreement had gone into liquidation but I have found out that the company is still trading. (The Scottish Power plan folded). It looks now that I will get my money back after all. I thought some people would be interested in the news.

My 10yr old Zanussi FL1084 recently packed up (wouldnt drain). Fixed the problem which was 2 things (related). 1) Pump had died. 2) Pump outlet pipe very blocked with grey deposits (also on inlet side). Looking at this deposit it isnt greasy and I dont think its limescale (doesnt look like kettle limescale anyway). I am now thinking it is wash powder deposits (presumeably undissolved). Have been using persil non-bio tablets with Calgon tablets (v hard water area). Mainly 40 degree washes with some 60 washes. I am thinking is this because 2 tablets is too much for this 4.5lb capacity machine at low temps (not fully dissolving)? Would wash liquid / liquitabs help? Would …

Hello, can anyone help me? I have recently inherited a washing machine when moving into a new flat and not only is there no user manual but pretty much all the writing is missing from the front of the machine. I have no idea what the various buttons do. I've risked a couple of washes but things are shrinking - obviously on a hot setting. Does anyone have a manual? Can someone send me a picture of the buttons complete with writing? Or am I destined to wear small clothes for the rest of my stay here? Thanks for reading.

Can anyone recommend a machine that will fit in a normal 600mm space but that can wash a king size duvet? I have a dust allergy and need to wash my duvet regularly - the launderette is costing me a fortune.

Hi all.. One issue I haven't seen either on the forums or the website is a general guide on when to give up on trying to repair a washer and go for a new one. Is there any general concensus on this issue, or do you think it can only be decided on a case by case basis? Of course.. this abstract question is leading on to my own problems I recently had to replace the motor on my Hotpoint WD52, and when I say "I", I mean the repair man as I heeded the warnings aimed at novice electricians. Now a couple of months on, I have the feeling something is wrong because the machine wobbles on the spin cycle even with an empty load. The choice I'm faced with is a second repair that …

I've had my Miele W4446 for 10 months now and I'm more than happy with it. It's never been used for a wash above 40deg. I recently obtained some sachets of Limescale and Detergent remover for my dishwasher, which states it's also good for washing machines. The manual for my machine simply recommends a cotton 95deg wash with detergent (but no clothes). But I was wondering if it's worth putting a dose of the cleaner in instead/as well as. Thoughts?

I would just like to say a HUGE THANK YOU for this site. I have a servis machine, must be 4-5 years old, & until last week had been as good as gold (well gold plate). It recently decided to stop spinning so i did the usual: checked filter & drain hose, kicked it hard, all to no avail. My other half then came home & removed the back, pipes, motor & anything else that he could take off, cleaned it wiggled it then put it back, which seemed to work, it now spun again.....but the hose now leaks where he punctured it & the belt falls off when it gets to its "fast spin"!! so once again the back comes off, a new hose, though not one that actually fits p…

What are the general rules when it comes to how many clothes you place in the machine for each wash? I'm always worried that the machine isn't washing at maximum efficiency because I'm either over-filling the drum with clothes or perhaps not putting enough in. Generally speaking, I tend to loosely pile-in the clothes until they are a little under halfway below the centre point of the drum, thus leaving them plenty of room to circulate in the wash. I have seen other people almost fill the drum with clothes.

Since we moved house a few months ago, our (old) Bosch WFF1201 seems to wash too hot when the boiler is full of hot water. I assume it's best to just use the cold hose for the inlet and disconnect the hot one, but would be really grateful to know if that will be OK for the machine (manual seems no help) Thanks!

Just ordered an BEKO - WME8227 8kg machine. Should you do a cleaning wash, before you start putting cloths in a new washing machine to remove any dirt/grease ect. I was thinking of running the longest and hottest cotton wash to check the heating element and basically check everything is working fine, but 2-3 hours is a long wash. Thanks John.

Can washing machine powder be used in a dishwasher without it causing damage? My dad constantly insists on throwing washing machine powder (like Daz or Bold etc.) into the dishwasher instead of using an actual dishwasher tablet (like Finish etc.), claiming that it's "all the same thing". Me and the rest of my family think this is horrible and surely can't be good for the dishwasher itself or the things being washed inside. What's the definitive answer?

We have had a new kitchen fitted including new appliances. Unfortunately, the users manual for the Washer / Dryer has been lost by the kitchen fitters. If anyone has a Zanussi ZKI245 users manual and could photo-copy it as a PDF or any other convenient format, please reply to this message and I will send you my email address. Needless to say, I would pay for any expenses that would be incurred. I contacted Zanussi direct and they tell me that they do not replace lost or stolen paperwork items that go missing. Thank you. gael33.

Good afternoon all. This is my first post and I was moved to join this forum having read an article about the pros and cons of adding limescale prevention powders or tablets to a machine. There seems to be some debate as to the benefits or not of adding these products so I did a little research and a bit of maths and, for me, concluded that adding limescale prevention was simply not worth it. The figures are as follows and are based on the current costs from Asda and on my living in an area with very hard water (according to my water company Anglia Water) I've chosen Calgon since it's all that Asda sell. With Calgon: Calgon tablets: 32p each, Asda wash gel amount recomme…
