If anyone has bought a new Indesit Washing Machine XWE 101683 and water remains in fabric conditioner dispenser contact Indesit. Do not attempt to repair yourself" After searching internet different advice was given such as tilting machine, levelling, base with runners, plastic mats etc,re-positioning washing machine. All conflicting advice but waste of time. You have 90 days in which to get an engineer out and if you have this machine then it is possible there is a manufacture fault. What has happened is that the dispenser would not flush as blocked by a small piece of plastic not removed when the tray was produced. Engineer called today and tried unblocking with tube and…

Hi there, first post here! I've just received my new AEG Okomix washing machine, model L79485FL. Given the low quantity of water used by washers these days I thought a jet of water from the top would help keeping the laundry more soaked. I have a question. The jet of water is not running all the time - it escapes me why but apparently that is normal. However, even when the jet is not running I can hear a humming noise which is clearly a pump running and I cannot understand what is that for! Okomix claims to mix the detergent better than other washers - to me it's a gimmick as I reckon a drum spinning in the water should be more than enough to dissolve the d…

Hi there folks. Does anyone know how to work the Steam Hygiene function on the Hotpoint Ultima RPD10457J. The instruction manual is so unclear! Every time i push the button i get 3 bleeps and "No Selection" appears on the screen. I understand that this function does not work with all cycles but which ones does it work with and how do you activate it? Would be grateful for any advice. Cheers. Mike

Hiya, Thanks for this forum, I'm new here so sorry if this ends up in the wrong place, though I'm definitely not asking for a repair. I bought a new machine on the 5th of January, and the drum seems warped right from the start, I first decided maybe it was a new design of rotation but I'm not so sure, so need to ask so I will know one way or the other. I made a short video to show what I mean. Electrolux Ews 31074 nu Thanks so much, Nikki

I saw it suggested on a frugal living site to wash clothes with vinegar instead of detergent in the machine. Will it damage the machine to use it on a daily basis? I know it is good to use vinegar every month or so to keep limescale under control etc. We have hard or very hard water if it makes a difference. Thanks!

Hello The soap dispenser for model WMAO863 has a blue plastic insert that fits into the main compartment (N0 1 in operatin manual) it appears to act as gate where the water flows down. Does anyone know what is this part used for?

Hi This question is for washing machine engineers In specific. Which washing machine is best built with durability in mind. As I bought a hotpoint Wmd washing machine within 12 month's of purchase things started to go wrong. Drum went 4 times. heating element went 2 times despite using the washing machine descaling sachets. Motor went once. This is not a comprehensive list of problems. I want to buy somethingthat will last without problems. Thanks In Advance

I have been remodelling my kitchen and have just had my old washing machine reconnected in it's new position by a plumber. I decided to try using the dryer for the first time in years and found it wasn't heating so thought I'd pull the machine out to see if there was a thermal cut out switch which could be reset. I didn't get very far because the machine hoses were only long enough to move the machine halfway out. I had told the plumber it would need longer hoses and it looks like he has extended the drainage hose slightly, but not the inlet - neither would allow the machine to come right out without disconnecting them. I have never had this situation with a washing machi…

HiAfter recently noticing extra suds in my wash, I'm wondering if I'm dosing my detergent correctly. My detergent's dosage instructions give two measurements, based on soiling, load weight and water hardness. My water supplier states that my water is "moderately hard" and I tend to do loads of 4kg or under (particularly if a specific wash) that are not heavy soiled. The detergent has one measurement for light soiling, in soft/medium water, for 4-5kg of clothes and another measure for heavy soiling, hard water, up to 8kg. I've always though of my water being hard (but now not sure) and I regularly do under 4kg, not heavy soiled loads.I appreciate this may not be an exact sc…

Hello everyone, I am looking to replace the feet of my machine as they seem to have worn down over the years, this has caused excessive vibrations when the machine is in full spin. Has anyone had experience with doing this? What kind of ones should I be looking for? The ones that are currently inside the machine look fairly basic and have a hard base. Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi we have recently purchased a Hotpoint Ultima S-line washing machine - although generally pleased water seems to be drains back into the drum after the wash cycle has been completed and the assiocated clothes removed. The water is a brownie colour ... any thoughts anyone?

Hi all, I'm considering purchasing and installing a washing machine, but have only one very tight spot that I can install it in in my flat. Insalling in this spot will require me to install the pipes (drainage and water pipes) around the machine. (What I mean is that the pipes will come out of the back of the machine, travel around the front of the machine to the water tap and drain. hence they won't go straight out, but rather twist a little going from the machine.) Would this disrupt the machines work in some way? Can it work this way? Are most machine pipes long enough to go around the machine? Thank you! Daniel

How can I find out which washer dryers on the market can be fitted with a height reduction kit? They all seem to have a height of 85cm, and I need to reduce it to a maximum of 83cm. Would it be safe to remove the lid on a washer dryer whose control panel doesn't extend to the top of the machine, and have a custom-made metal plate fitted to the top. There is an LG washer dryer I like and the lid is 3cm high and sits above the control panel so it looks as though it could be done, but when I contacted LG they said they cannot supply a height reduction kit for any of their washer dryers.

What I'm talking about is an older/simpler machine that doesn't have that automatic sensor that somehow figures out how big the load is. All it has is a set of buttons for small, medium, large, or extra-large loads. Affects how high the water level gets before it stops filling and starts agitating. My understanding is you toss in some clothes and some detergent, look at how high the clothes fill the washer, select a load size, close the lid and start the cycle. Come back when it's done. But I don't do the laundry around my house, my wife does, and only because I had to fix her washer recently did I learn this isn't how she does it! She opens the lid and starts t…

Hello, This is a simplistic question because i am new to the world of washing machines and have recently read a great deal in a short time. I am buying a machine for a housing association. We previously had a Speed Queen which never really washed well. I read around and it seems that the consensus is that boiler fed machines are inefficient because most of the water is cold as it has been sitting in the pipes. I eventually settled on a Miele pw6065 http://www.mielecommercial.co.uk/pw6065-commercial-washing-machine-6-5kg-p57 It has a hot inlet and a cold inlet so this confused me; because with my limited knowledge the hot fill made me t…

Hi all We recently decided it would be a nice idea to put our washing machine upstairs (2nd floor) so had some plumbing done, redecorated and purchased a shiny new (and very expensive) Miele machine. Unfortunately when we tried to use it the house shook and we could feel the vibrations on the ground floor. FYI we live in a 10 year town house with neighbours on both sides. I have tried a vibration mat, silent feet (from Amazon) and also removing the laminate floor I fitted. These helped but no where near enough to make the machine usable. The Miele weighs 100kg so I was concerned that it was the weight causing the issues, so this weekend I purchased an old B…

Hi all,I know that this is an unorthodox topic but I'm a vintage appliance enthusiast and I'm looking for a couple of vintage Hotpoint washing machines from the 1970s for my display. In particular, I'm looking for a Hotpoint Liberator with the pink & purple controls and a purple door (models 1850, 1851, 1828, 1824, 1848, 1827). I'm also keen to find the very uncommon Hotpoint front loader with the square door (models 1600 or 1830). Other vintage washing machines such as Hoover Keymatics or Servis Selectronics are also of interest. For further information please do not hesitate to contact me via personal message or email. The condition of the machine is not really impo…

I have a slight leak from my waste pipe connection under the sink. The previous homeowner installed the kitchen and the pipes are different to what I've seen before. There is a grey pipe which sticks up and I've simply pushed the waste pipe onto that, as there's no other way to do it. Should I just fit a jubilee clip around the waste pipe, or do the pipes need changing to something more standard?

Our NEFF washer-dryer is flashing a light which says we need to run the fluff-removal cycle. I shut the door & selected Fluff Clean and pressed Start. Nothing seems to happen. Help! It won't do any drying either.

Hi, We have a Miele Edition 111 W5877 washing machine, that for the most part has been very good. Spin is almost silent. It is nearly 3 years old and is just out of their 2 year warranty, typically. They want £170 to just come out and have a look! Recently it has started causing our white sheets to have some grey marks on when they come out of the machine. They are like thin grey lines in creases, almost like something has left a residue. Maybe oil from the machine somewhere? Can the sheets get behind any seals anywhere perhaps? It only happens with our sheets, we've never noticed it with a normal clothes wash. We have used the Miele maintenanc…

Hi, I am just wondering how an end user gets to find out if there is any new firmware updates from the manufacturer to improve the operation of the Washing Machine or add new features or iron out bugs or new wash programmes or modify the already ones stored on the flash memory on the circuit control board. Say in my case I bought a Hotpoint WMUD843P washing Machine back in 2012 and it has the slot on the back where the smartcard would go in- how would I know what firmware my washing machine has and wether the manufacturer (Indesit) has bought out any firmware (if any) since I have bought my washing machine. I think when I first bought the washing machine this particular…

After 9 years my Indesit washing machine is close to death (though the dryer bit died about 6 years ago) and I need to replace it. This had a 5kg drum which I found a bit small. I have decided to go with a freestanding model as the integrated ones are so expensive and to just get a washing machine as I haven't missed the dryer (nor the excessive electric bills) at all. I've read so many reviews my head is spinning at 1600rpm! I think I've got it down to a few models now, but am unsure which to go for. Miele WDA101 7kg drum - cheapest price I can find is £539, is it worth this type of money for their entry level model? Is there a Bosch model that's the equivalent stan…
