/ Zanussi ZWF1010W washing machine review
Zanussi washing machine: Overview
This is a well made washing machine at a very cheap price, but it may not have enough features for some people. It has a small (by today's standards) 4.5 Kg drum and a top spin speed of 1000 rpm which is considered slow today. However, slow means quieter, more stable and less wear and tear so if you aren't bothered about super fast spins, 1000 rpm may be adequate.
The ZWF1010W has a Spin Drying Energy Rating of C (out of a scale of A-G) and a Wash Energy and efficiency Rating of A.
It's design is functional and simple. There's no fancy display, just five neon lights that indicate the progress of the wash, "washing" "rinses" "spinning" "draining" and "end".
There are 3 option buttons with neon indicators to confirm the selection of "pre wash, "super rinse" "half load".
Cold fill washing machine
The Zanussi ZWF1010W is another cold fill only washing machine. There is no hot water valve. This is now a common trend with the quality washing machines. Eventually, all washing machines may follow suit.
Other parts
This washing machine has a large door and a well designed door handle. The soap dispenser is quite small though. There is a water pump filter and draining hose for if the washing machine ever breaks down full of water, which I consider essential.
The build quality of the ZWF1010W is good. It's similar to AEG as both washing machines are made by the same company
Criticism
This model is unsuitable for families with lots of washing due to the slow spin speed and a slightly smaller drum. If you are washing for just one person or mostly light loads though it's probably OK, and good value for money too.
Summary
This washing machine is a little short on features, but with a higher standard of build quality than any budget washing machine. However, it could still be more than suitable for a single person or a couple with no kids who don't have big loads. If you aren't bothered about fancy flashing lights and features, and don't need the clothes to come out as dry as possible, then it's a great washing machine for the price.
NOTE:
This Zanussi washing machine appears to have been discontinued. The Zanussi ZWF12070 (currently £249) is very similar but it has a bigger 6Kg drum and spins at an optimum 1200 rpm. This new model counteracts the criticism of small drum and slow spin speed in this review. (This makes it suitable for families) The link goes to John Lewis who give free delivery and a 2 year guarantee.

Important: Don't forget that the general build quality of any given make of washing machine is the same throughout their entire range so if you can't find this particular model, look for one similar within their range. Paying for the top model within a manufacturer's range will not get you better quality it will get you faster spin speeds and extra features. Conversely, buying the basic model within a range, will not cause you to lose out in quality - only features. ( If I buy a more expensive washing machine do I actually get a better one? )
Based on this premise, any other washing machine in the current Zanussi range should fare as well in an inspection (at least as far as build quality is concerned).
