/ Washing machine reviews policy
My policy and intentions regarding Washerhelp's washing machine reviews
My washing machine reviews are free, and aren't trying to sell you the washing machines reviewed. However, as I developed these reviews it became obvious that Washerhelp would be more of a useful washing machine resource if it also contained links to commercial sites where you can compare washing machine prices and specifications or buy washing machines if interested. Washerhelp's washing machine reviews were on the Internet for a couple of years before adding any such links. You will find they are not all recommended by me, and some contain many criticisms which would put people off buying.
My washing machine reviews are written from an independent repairman's point of view (with 30 years experience) The focus is much less on the features, and more on the build quality and repair issues.
How useful are these washing machine reviews?
Virtually all available washing machine reviews focus on how fast it spins, what options it has etc. but the most important decision when buying a washing machine is which make to buy? This decision alone determines the quality of the washing machine you will get, how long it is likely to last, its reliability, and how easy it will be to buy parts and to get it repaired in the future. Only then should you start to investigate specific features. You can use Washerhelp's reviews and buying advice pages to help make this most important decision.
Washing machine manufacturers do not usually vary the quality of their washing machines. Instead, if they want to sell in a higher or lower quality band they buy up other companies and sell through a totally different brand [ Who owns who? Who really makes your washing machine. ] If a company makes quality washing machines, then all their models are usually the same quality. If they make flimsy washing machines then all their range will be the same quality too. Also, if their spare parts are hard to find and expensive, or if few independent repairers deal in them, this will apply to all models in their range. [related advice: If I buy a more expensive washing machine, do I get a better washing machine?]
The difference between any manufacturer's basic washing machine and their top model is not the quality, but features such as spin speeds, size of drums and options. So although Washerhelp's washing machine reviews are relatively small in quantity (so far), they are useful for telling you about the most important issues regarding any particular make of washing machine being reviewed. If you find a washing machine that impresses you, then even if you can't find the exact particular model reviewed, you can look at other washing machines from this manufacturer, with similar features, and be confident that you understand what kind of washing machine you are buying.
