The Hoover and Candy lid

The Hoover and Candy washing machine lid arrangement is unlike other washing machines. Normally you just push a washing machine lid forward or back an inch and the lid lifts off. With Hoover and Candy washing machines you have to slide the lid back the full depth of the washing machine before it will come off.

This means you need to pull the washing machine forward twice as far as other washing machines to get the lid off. When under a worktop this is often very difficult. Sometimes you have to disconnect the machine from the plumbing.

While not a serious issue, this is totally unecessary and quite a nuisance.
