Dyson CR01 door seal comparison

Washerhelp home page

Compare the Dyson door seal below, with the kind of door seals used for decades by other washing machine manufacturers.

The grey part just in front of the drum (above), is made of tough plastic and is separate from the purple door seal whereas it is made of soft rubber on normal door seals. On the Dyson CR01 the door seal is similar to that fitted on tumble dryers.

This represents a revolutionary approach to the door seal on a washing machine which is one of the least reliable parts.

These two pictures show conventional door seals. One is from a Hoover, and the other from a Hotpoint. The left picture shows an extremely common problem, which is holes or tears causing leaks.

The second picture shows a door seal covered in slime and grease on the underside (often not obvious to the user) caused by poor design, constant dampness through water retention and too many low temperature washes.

There is no rubber flange to get holed or gunged up on the CR01
