The Honeycomb drum is unique to Miele
There are lots of technical descriptions about the Miele honeycomb drum's structure and how it works. I'm going to be presumptuous and assume most people aren't particularly interested in the technical description. Here's my summary of what's different about the honeycomb drum
- The point of it is to reduce damage to fibres caused by washing, and just be more gentle with laundry. It achieves this because a thin film of water is created between the surface of the drum and the laundry
- After spinning, even at very high speeds, there is no impression left on laundry as there is with normal drums where it's forced through hundreds of holes
- Miele have won an award for its design
