The information on the control panel and soap drawer is behind a protective screen which prevents the writing rubbing or fading away. The soap dispenser drawer is strong and there's a tool hidden behind the drawer front for opening the pump filter door.

The Miele dispenser drawer (left) is easily released for cleaning with the orange lever at the back. behind the drawer front (right) is a plastic tool for opening the pump filter door and the writing on the drawer (below) and on the control panel is under protective cover so it will never rub or fade away.

Miele place the pump filter high enough to allow a reasonably deep container to be placed under it for draining water quickly. This may not be as pretty as hiding it behind the kick strip like many other manufacturers do but it's impractical to drain a washing machine if the filter isn't placed high enough up to allow a proper container to collect the water. This shows Miele aren't obsessed with looks so much that they compromise functionality.
