How to download or obtain a washing machine instruction book / booklet / manual for various white goods (where available)

Washing machine user instruction books (or manuals) can be very difficult to find. There's no money in stocking washing machine user manuals, so the manufacturer is the best place to obtain one from. Some can be downloaded free, and others you will have to buy. I've complied a list of some of the more common washing machine makes, and tracked down the pages where you can obtain the washing machine user manual if available. Many other domestic appliance user manuals can be found using these links too.

The information you need to obtain an instruction book / user manual for a washing machine

To obtain the right instruction manual, you need the proper model number. Most "model numbers" on the front of a washing machine are not the proper washing machine model numbers They are sometimes just the name of a range of machines - each with their own user manual.

To track down the right user instruction manual, you may also need other numbers from the washing machine such as "product" numbers or serial numbers.

Where is the model number?

Most model numbers these days are behind the door of the washing machine, or on the back of the washing machine. Some model numbers are written on the front panel of the washing machine but they can't be relied upon to be the full model number so check behind the door as well.

• Candy user instruction books were available on a Candy web site but inexplicably the site just disappeared and it hasn't worked for over 3 weeks so I've given up on it. It's the second time a UK Candy web site just disappeared with no redirect, which is staggeringly amateurish. As Candy and Hoover are the same group I advised someone to email Hoover using these contact details - Hoover.co.uk/contact/ - I was informed that they were successful. Make sure you supply the model and serial numbers
