  1. Well after trawling many websites and reading what seemed like hundreds of reviews, and a lot of reviews from these forums and website, we decided on a Miele. We were going to get the W3740 but nowhere seemed to have one in stock. We needed to ditch our old Indesit quickly due to constant break downs and with having a baby in tow, living without a washing machine was a no brainer. We saw the W1714 for £589.00 and at that price who were we to argue. As you can see it has very clean lines and we were very impressed when it arrived. The chaps disconnected and took away our old one and installed the new one for us. After running the machine on empty for a cycle it stopped asking us if we have removed the transit bolts and gave us the kind option of having the menu in english, which is always a bonus. After running a load of the babies clothes we were in a away not suprised by how quiet the machine was, as everyones reviews of Miele machines were correct. It's very quiet. It hardly moves an inch either. A full towel wash and I can now believe that mini video of the pound coin on edge not falling over. After the towels had finished the cycle, my wife (not joke) came running in telling me to feel how dry the towels were. Yep they were a sight drier than they had ever been before after coming out of a washing machine. I suppose that is where the 1400 spin cycle helps. We just have to make sure now, we run a maintanence wash every month and clean the filters and detergent draw. As you can tell we are very happy with our purchase and with getting a free 5 year warantee with it, it all adds up to a very pleasing purchase. I would recommend this machine to everyone and though it may be at the cheaper end of the Miele market you will not be disappointed and will instantly see where you extra money has gone over buying an inferior product. No more Indesit for us On a closing note, would just like to say many thanks to WasherHelp on here as his advice was invaluable in our descision to go for a Miele machine. Cheers chap!
  2. Slight change of plan here. After looking at the differences between the W1714 and the W3740 we have decided to go for the W1714. mainly due to the fact we can get it for £589.00. So once it is here, I will let you know our thoughts on the machine Only differences are one is "modern" and one is not and the 1714 does not have Handwash / Silks option. This is the main one. The Others are here
  3. Cheers! We can get a W3240 for £699.99 and would be tempted however I read somewhere on here that they are being discontinued. Or a W4144 for £699.99 and that does look really good. Again however as I think you pointed out it wont do so well under a work top and though at the moment that is no problem at the moment it maybe in the future. I think I also prefer the look of teh W3740, so I think it is off to Currys for the W3740 and have our lovely Indesit taken away for free. Lots of money but with the 10 year garauntee until the end of July a good buy all the same. Keep up the top work on your website chap as I have found it very very useful when looking for a new machine. The wife like the look of the Hotpoint Aquaris but after reading your thoughts and the reviews on Which we decided against that
  4. We have now also seen the Miele W1713 and are tempted with that.
  5. We are looking into buying a new machine (My wife and I). We currently own the Indesit W103 and while it has served us well for the past 3 years (Moving in gift from the outlawz) it is now starting to cause more problems than it's worth. The belt has come off 3-4 times in 4 months. The pump clogged, it stopped draining properly and the programme select had a mid life crisis and decided it would do as it please. Though we are very fortunate that where we live, we have a genuine and reliable washing machine repair man. £10 call out and hardly any labour, so can't compain. I would prefer not to have to rely on his services to get by. This machine served us well until about 5.5 months ago when our Son arrived. Now we (well my wife) uses the machine a lot at least once a day if not 2 or even 3 times depending on how grubby we are this is when we have started noticing that the reliability of the machine isn't quite what we had hoped. From reading your reviews and thoughts on a wide variety of machines and looking at the Which reviews I would now not buy an indesit machine from choice. I have read (and downloaded you video clips) regarding the Miele W3740. This does indeed look like a superior machine and I would say this is at the top end of our budget. Being £759.99 on Currys. I take it this machine would handle our washing load and ask for more My questions are these: Could you recommend a machine that would be suitable for a family of 3 around the £400 mark Could you recommend a machine that would be suitable for a family of 3 around the £600 mark I know spending less in the near future may mean spending more in the long term, just it would give us a range of options. Basically I could spend a little now or spend a lot. However with Miele offering an extended 10 year guarantee at the moment, is this just too good a deal to pass up? You time and response is much appreciated. (Much more in-depth than Which by the way)
