  1. Hi Suffolk, Yes your problem does sound similar to the one I had (as you quoted my posting). I would however recommend you get it checked out as it may not be a circuit board problem. I had an engineer thoroughly check the Bosch over, and that was his conclusion. Prior to that I had checked the inflow pipes and water pressure myself which was recommended on another discussion forum. Miele is a good product, the basic (cheapest) one has a smaller drum size than the Bosch, but as I need to sort wash loads out, I don't appear to have noticed the difference! I've found also the Miele has quicker wash cycles than the Maxx too, surprising from a cold fill only. Hope that helps
  2. Interesting take on the Prestige Plus, as when I was discussing this on here, it was deemed a good buy ie that it's a Miele and JL have a reputation for good service. I bought it on the basis that it was the same price as the entry level machine, but had a slighly faster spin (not that I really notice the difference - what's 100 rpm between friends?), and the choice of 4 more programme options. I also got the 5 year guarantee with the offer which runs until the end of May. It's all a bit academic now as JL have stopped selling that model. I do agree you can't do the price match when companies do their own special, a real pain. Anyway, still a good machine, and it's quicker than my old Bosch (even before when the Bosch was working properly), and that was a H&C fill, whereas the Miele is just cold fill.
  3. Hi Had my new Miele W524 Prestige Plus, (John Lewis exclusive) delivered 4 days ago. So far I can report it's great, have done various loads, and it's quiet, and cleans well. Rock solid during the fastest spin (1300 rpm). It's so nice to have a machine that doesn't stop mid-cycle as my 7 year old Bosch had been doing for 6 months!!
  4. Hi Our Bosch Maxx (WFL 226L) is giving up the ghost, can't manage to complete the wash cycle, stops about three quarters of the way through, and then I have to switch dial round to spin or rinse to get a slightly dryer wash load (but not much). Have had a local engineer come and check it over, and it needs a new circuit board, which is likely to cost around £250. Bearing in mind the machine is just over 7 years old I feel it should be replaced. It cost £370 in 1999. Have been doing some research and have narrowed the replacement choice to either the Miele Prestige Plus from John Lewis, or the ISE CI555WH, both are the same price £499, so that's not an issue, but at the limit of the budget. I spoke to the local contact engineer for ISE, and he was telling me that they (the engineers) are expected to buy 10 units as a minimum from ISE which they then come and install. Which sounds a bit steep when they probably don't have the storage etc. I have found the ISE machine from an on line firm appliance planet for £351 (+£30 for delivery), do you know why this would be so much cheaper, apart from the fact that they just deliver and don't install. Do you still get the 5 year guarantee? Our existing machine has a 6kg load, the Miele only has 5kg and the ISE has 6kg, would I really notice the difference in the size/miss the 1kg? I see from this site that it's very pro on both machines, but that doesn't help me! If you had the choice which would you choose? I currently do 3-4 wash loads per week. Help me make my decision please!
