  1. Do you have any advice about stacking a washer and dryer? Should one do it at all? What are the issues involved and what sort of stacking kit is best? I can't seem to get a straight answer from salesmen on this subject and would be very grateful for any advice you could offer. Many thanks.
  2. Thanks for your reply. I suspect you are right about the door seal. Now, next question - do you happen to know a company (with website perhaps?) that would be able to send me a replacement door seal for such an old washing machine? Thanks once again.
  3. My washing machine seems to be leaking from behind a lump of concrete which I guess is used to balance the drum. I can't see why it should start leaking from here but the concrete is wet and lines up roughly with the wet spot on the floor. Can you tell me what might be causing this leak and how I can fix it (if indeed I can).
  4. Whatever program is selected, the on light flashes a bit, stays steady for a few seconds then the pump starts and selector clicks round continuously. Any ides whats wrong?
  5. Excellent advice! Got it! It was a button. It was stuck somewhere in the flexible rubber hose. Got it out without taking all the jubilee clips off. I filled the drainage system and squeezed it out having narrowed down the location!
  6. Thanks for that but no success. I have the washing machine all opened up. The rattling sound only seems to happen during the drainage period of the washing cycles. The rattling is slightly hard to locate but sounds like its coming from the drain pump area of the machine. I've checked inside the pump which opens up easily from the front of the machine though its filter. I found lots of grey gunk but no coin! The draim pump seems to pump out dirty water from the bottom of the drum via a flexible rubber tube. It then pumps out water via another hose to the machine's water drainage pipe. Although I've not looked inside these hoses, I can squeeze them easily and can't feel anything inside. However, the hose which drains from the bottom of the drum to the drain pump has a ball-valve. The ball valve moves freely when I move it. I wonder if it is trapped on one side of this. Basically, I'm totally stuck. The good thing is that the machine still seems to work ok!
  7. I've a problem with a washing machine that seems to have appeared and would greatly appreciate some advice before I get too frustrated! The washing machine has started making a rattling noise when the water drains out, and the noise seems to be coming from the drain pump. It sounds very unhealthy like a coin or screw in the pump. I can reproduce the noise by setting the machine to programme 13 which is the cycle for pumping out the rinsing water. Any suggestions on how to go about finding out what the problem is?
  8. My washing machine was doing a normal load last night, and there was a loud bang. The washing machine was still half full of water & it is now completely dead. No power to it at all. I've checked all of the fuses, in the mains socket & also the washing machine plug and they are all working fine.
  9. Indesit WE 10 Washing Machine Fault Code F02 Could you tell me what this fault code means and if there is anything I could do about it please? When I start a cycle there are a few rotations of the drum and some water comes in the machine. Then the error code comes up. I can drain the water from the drum OK, but the spin cycle or any other cycle (apart from drain) will not work.
  10. Hi Andy, Just a quick one to say thanks, it was the brushes, I swapped them around and everything is fine now!! thanks again,
  11. It is spinning fast, however there is a clicking noise from the machine, could it be possible that I put in the brushes in the wring way around, could this cause the problem? (there was a point on the new brushes).
  12. I've got a problem with my Zanussi washing machine. History Drum stopped turning during cycle, I checked the motor brushes and they where badly worn so I replaced them. Drum is now turning. The problem is that after the spin cycle, the clothes are still wet. Sounds as if the water is pumping out down the drain, but it seems that spin cycle is very short approx 1min. Got any suggestions???
  13. Looks like I'm not the only one here with a similar problem! Programme 8 had just finished & it went into the Rinse cycle but I stopped it manually because of a weird noise such as car keys making a rattle in the drum. (That turned out to be a pen-knife.) Now can't reset the programme. I Rang Indesit's "speedy" hotline but after 15 mins still can't get it right. I was told to turn Programme Selector knob to any Stop/Reset, wait 5 seconds, then turn knob to the Draining symbol, another wait, machine should be reprogrammed. The flashing red light which should disappear in favour of a slow-flashing light, doesn't - it stays fast-slashing. Any ideas would be most gratefully received!
  14. Thanks for the rapid response. I took the back off and unbolted the motor to get access to the brushes. I removed the brushes and both were very worn. There was lots of carbon dust around the ends and this appeared to be causing the brushes to stick. I exercised them a little and the springs then pushed them out. I reassembled the motor and it runs OK now but the brushes will need replacing imminently. Thanks for your advice, hopefully it will save me some money and an ear bending from the wife. Cheers. PS if I cannot get them locally would you be able to get hold of some?
  15. Excellent advice I've seen so far but can you give me a few direct pointers to try and resolve my problem? The washing machine is about 12 yrs old. On the 3rd wash today the wife noticed the clothes were still sopping wet. The water had pumped out, but the motor had not driven the wash or spin cycles. The belt is fine. What should I look at next? If I take the motor off and check the brushes will it be immediately obvious that they are faulty? Is it likely there is a power supply failure to the motor, should I check the feed to the motor with an AVO? What pins/sockets should I check and what value should it be? If the power supply and the brushes are good can I do any other checks on the motor or is it just a straight replacement. Many thanks in advance.
