  1. Thanks Andy. yes its good to be back. Its strange how it makes the noise at the beginning. I wonder if at the beginning maybe its pumping dry and there is not enough water in the tub before it starts pumping somehow and thats why its making the noise. Its a shame you cannot hear the noise on the video because it is quite loud in the kitchen when it does it, embarrassing as well because it sounds like a loud fart noise lol 😄
  2. forgive me its not a washing machine its a whirlpool dishwasher problem (But I have seen others on here discussing dishwashers) and at the end of the day it is a washing machine lol 😄 - it makes a noise always at the start of the cycle but once the dishwasher is under way its quiet for the rest of the cycle . any ideas? whirlpool WFC3C33PFXUK UK model: whirlpool dishwasher strange noise (1).mp4
  3. hello @Anya - what you could try and see is if the 3 little drain holes are clear/clean at the bottom of the door gasket and make sure the water is draining freely through them. I am just thinking maybe water could be 'pooling' up at the bottom of the door gasket and as you open the door it overflows down the front of the machine:
  4. maybe they do it on a reconditioning basis (if not maybe that would be a good idea for washing machine repairers to get into - or manufacturers)? service engineer goes out, puts in a complete drum, and old drum is taken back to recondition and is reconditioned at their own time/leisure same with the rest of the parts like motors etc. I remember in the old days when I was in the motor parts trade we used to sell recon radiators, starter motors and engines and other items at a fraction of a price of brand new parts .. and it also stopped a lot of waste as well
  5. I wonder with this parts and labour 5 year manufacturer warranty they offer if that is it and nothing more to pay at time of repair? - like i wonder if they still charge a price for callout/diagnose and at that extortionately? I was surprised when I got my Samsung washing machine to read on the label it was 'made in Poland' because I have always thought of samsung being a South Korean company and products made there.
  6. Hello @Chris B - is the drain pump working OK, can you hear it working? - Have you cleaned the drain pump filter and theres no blockage in the drainage hose from the machine? If the water isnt emptying out fully I am just thinking it might be spinning but with some water still left in the drum. also is that one of those models that spray water onto the clothes as they spin on the last part of the cycle through spinning? (I can never understand why you would want that feature as the last thing when you are trying to spin the washing dry why you would want to introduce some water onto the wash items!)
  7. yes, i would go for 95 long wash - i dont know what detergent you have been using but if liquid detergent over time that will more than likely leave residue where the wash is not getting hot enough to dissolve it, so yeah it will do no harm i reckon . also good idea to remove the soap dispenser drawer totally (most come out fully by pushing a blue 'button' down whilst pulling the drawer out) then give the whole soap drawer a nice soak in the sink, and have a look in the soap drawer housing on the machine and see if thats clean (it will be likely you will see black mould spots on and in the soap drawer and housing , that could give the machine a musty smell also - so try give them as good a clean as you can (an old toothbrush works well) look at the top of the soap drawer housing as well where the jets of water shower out , thats where mould can lurk as well. - make sure everything is dried out nice and fully before you put the soap drawer back into the machine. for a few consecutive washes you could substitute your normal fabric softener for Dettol's Laundry sanitizer cleanser which will help I am sure - just pour it in the fabric softener compartment. All this should get your machine back to smelling like new again hopefully. Good Luck .... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0CD5SPPMF/ref=sspa_dk_hqp_detail_aax_0
  8. hi there - when you have sorted out the pipes in the right direction find the hottest and longest wash you can find on your washing machine (or select 'drum clean' or maintenance clean so machines have built in) and run that without any washing in the drum and no detergent or fabric conditioner - the 90'c long wash should hopefully kill all the smelly bacteria and get rid of the damp smell. After the wash leave the porthole door open so the machine can dry out (if fact always leave the door ajar after every wash in the future if you dont already) and wipe the rubber door gasket dry . For the future dont leave damp washing in the drum, as soon as its done its wash take the washing out of the drum immediately for the drier / clothes horse / outdoor line. and do the maintenance (or long hot wash or drum clean programme) at least once a month without any washing in drum and no detergent and fabric softener - eventually the musty damp smell should dis-appear . good luck.
  9. looks quite elaborate that one! - looks like it would be expensive part too - I see thats an American Samsung , I wonder if the UK/Europe ones have the same type door switch as that
  10. bimetal=nice & quiet unlocking - caveat: , having to wait for it to unlock Solenoid = handy that it opens the latch immediately when washing done - caveat: noisy loud clicking on the Hotpoint we had in another room sometimes we heard the washing cycle had finished not by the end jingle it played but by the clicking of the door lock instead!
  11. on a bimetal one I wonder how many people have broken the handle/door catch furiously tugging trying to open the door when its still locked at the end of the wash 😁 I remember when we first got our hotpoint with it previous machines had bimetal and it used to wind my mrs up when it had finished a cycle and she was waiting to opening the door and saying how ridiculous it was that the cycle had finished and the drum was not moving so what on earth wash all the delay for! - and being very impressed on the new hotpoint unlocking immediately at the end of the wash .
  12. hello Andy thank you for the answer. - yep it looks (sounds?) to be a solenoid type door lock and not a bi-metal one on this Samsung later eco-bubble and on my older Hotpoint , purchased in 2012 (which my daughter now owns) after spinning on mine (samsung) it does 3 slow revolves to relax the clothes after spinning in the drum and then a loud click (like a solenoid) and you can open up the door immediately - no waiting around for door to unlock. On hers now (the hotpoint) after spinning he clothes stay stuck to edge of drum - the time says 1minute left, the pump empties out , it does end of wash quick jingle and the lock makes 3 clicking noise (with a solenoid) and door can be opened up immediately. on a backup, older Samsung I have, it finishes its spin, does its end of cycle jingle, then no clicks of a solenoid and have to wait 1or 2 minutes whilst the bi-metal door lock cools down and then can open door . i dont know if any connection, but our newer Samsung eco-bubble has an inverter wash motor and our older back up samsung eco-bubble has the old type carbon brush type wash motor.
  13. I'd like to see AFDD's become the norm in houses consumer units - I think they are gradually becoming the norm but still very expensive at the moment - but i believe they will be a great addition to the RCCD/MCB/RCBO's currently
  14. I wonder what the rating is for these newer door locks that are on washing machines these days (am talking about the door locks that unlock immediately after the cycle has finished - not the older washing machines that you had to wait a minute or so before you could open the door after the cycle has finished) Only sometimes our new (well year and half ) Samsung eco-bubble and Hotpoint one did too, dims the lights sometimes when it unlocks or locks so they must be particularly a bit heavy on the amperage to do that - noticed as well on a couple of occasions if had tumble drier and EV charging (on 13a granny cable) that the washing machine door lock as opened and tripped the consumer unit like theres an overload or brief leakage to earth as it unlocks. Its doubtful that the lock is broke and its unlikely that there is anything wrong with the consumer unit / over-sensitive RCD/MCB's - it just seems these locks can be quite heavy for a split millisecond when they unlock sometimes.
  15. I used to work on a Electrical Trade Counter at a builders providers back in 1989 even back then the norm for consumer units were ELCB's (earth leakage breakers) so they have been around for years fitted to CU's .
