SERVIS M6011S WASHING MACHINE REVIEW

This washing machine looks surprisingly solid and is heavy. It’s a budget washing machine though and the weight is mostly accounted for by the heavy concrete tub weights. The kick strip at the front base of the washing machine rattles and suffers from vibration on spin on the one I tested.

This washing machine has a pump filter but no pump filter drain hose ( a small rubber tube with an end stop, where you can drain the water into a bowl if it ever breaks down full of water) You can at least regularly check and clean the filter, but those that don’t will have difficulty not flooding the kitchen if they want to remove and clean a blocked filter that has resulted in a washing machine full of water.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT IT

The Servis M6011S has a nice control display and selector switch, which is simple to use. Its 1100 spin speed is slow by today’s standards but it was perfectly adequate for us all during the 1980s and 1100 is more stable and quieter. The suspension seems solid for the price and the pump is also surprisingly quiet.

WHAT I DISLIKE ABOUT IT

One piece cabinet makes major repairs more difficult but to be honest at this washing machine’s price (less than £200) it’s probably not going to be an issue. That is, as with many other washing machines these days, anything major going wrong results in the washing machine being scrapped as it’s almost as expensive to fix than to replace.

SUMMARY

Servis washing machines are very cheap, amongst the cheapest. You get what you pay for so don't expect longevity and don't expect it to be quiet and stable on spin. For less than £200 you can't expect too much but if this is all you can afford (or want to pay) then even 2 or 3 years doesn't work out at much per year and there's always a chance you will get 3 or 4 years use from one. However, If you can afford a bit more, you will be far better off with something like a John Lewis washing machine or if you want a decent budget washing machine, the best budget washing machine in my opinion would be a Tricity Bendix washing machine at just £199 with free delivery and a 2 year guarantee at John Lewis, which is amazing value for money. Tricity Bendix are virtually a cut down version of Zanussi washing machines.
