Buy washing machines and other home appliances
As a washing machine information portal, Washerhelp links to where you can buy washing machines online to make it easier to compare prices and to seek out web deals & special offers. It makes sense to have a section where they are all together rather than just placing ads randomly throughout the site.
This page isn't just an excuse to lump loads of adverts together. I will be honest and say that I hope people will buy through a link on Washerhelp as this helps keep the site alive - at absolutely no cost to the user. But I've put a lot of work into researching about each retailer, and keeping up to date with the latest voucher codes and special offers. I also strive to be balanced and honest in my reviews of them.
Some retailers have special offers that are only advertised on sites like Washerhelp.

Appliances Online
Appliances Online claim to be the UK's largest online appliance specialist. It's part of DRL Limited, which appears to be a massive organisation selling household appliances under many different names and even for other established companies not traditionally known for white goods. This includes household names such as Boots and Sainsbury's. On that basis I reckon they probably are the biggest.

Boots Kitchen Appliances
Boots Kitchen Appliances is another site run by DRL Ltd. It's a site dedicated to kitchen appliances with, "over 4000 kitchen appliances at great savings, all from leading brands". The site is run separately from boots.com.
Buying from Boots Kitchen Appliances will get you Boots Advantage points. They often have triple advantage points offers.

Sainsbury's Kitchen Appliances
![]()
Sainsburys Kitchen Appliances used to be run by DRL Ltd but they are now incorporated into the main Sainsburys site. They offer, "a product range of over 4,000 competitively priced products and customers earn Nectar points at a rate of 2 Nectar points for every £1 spent".
They often have triple Nectar point offers and various other offers.

Appliance City
Appliance City are an independent and relatively small company who've been trading since 1986. However, they "keep a constant stock of over five thousand products in (their) warehouse" so this is still a fairly large business.
Appliance City describe themselves as "No 1 for online appliances" but I'm not sure on what basis they make the claim. Looking at their site they do appear to have an honest up front way of trading, and the expectation of a more personalised service than some of the giants they are competing with.

Tribal UK
Tribal UK appear to just operate online, and they don't seem to stock many white goods appliances themselves although they tell me they do stock some. If you buy a washing machine from them it will probably be delivered by the manufacturer, which is not an ideal situation. However, if their prices are a fair bit cheaper because they don't have to hold stock (which they ought to be) then it may be worth checking them out. Tribal UK do stock brown goods themselves.

Co-Operative Electrical
The Co-operative Electrical say they are the world's largest consumer co-operative employing over 87,000 people with annual sales over £9billion so they are a big concern.
Large kitchen appliances should be delivered by their own delivery company Phoenix Delivery Systems. When ordering major kitchen appliance they say you will receive a text message at approximately 6pm the evening prior to your selected delivery date. The message will advise you of the scheduled 2 hour time slot for your delivery. In addition to the SMS text message an email will be despatched to you detailing your time slot information.
Laskeys.com
Laskys is part of one of Europe’s largest electrical retail groups Kesa Electricals, which includes Comet. They say they have huge buying power which they allows them to offer customers "the strongest deals in the market". The address on their web site is in Hull.
"We are part of one of Europe's largest electrical retail groups, but do not have the direct overheads of High Street stores. This is how we can supply the latest range of products from the highest quality brands, combined with expert advice, service and support at very attractive price"
I don't understand their use of the phrase, "premium brands" as most of the washing machines featured are budget or standard brands such as Hotpoint. Miele, which is the number one premium brand as far as I'm concerned are no where to be found. Maybe the phrase was written with brown goods in mind?
- They currently offer free delivery on all orders
- Products will be delivered either from their distribution centre or direct from the manufacturer
- All products purchased from Laskys are covered by a manufacturer’s guarantee and are repaired by the manufacturer’s experts or our third party service agents (Comet Service)
John Lewis
John Lewis are mentioned a lot in Washerhelp's content and on my white goods Blog. I've personally bought most of my white goods appliances from them as well as my brown goods products too. I've always enjoyed their genuinely old-school style service where the customer is king, combined with modern practices. I've always felt treated with genuine respect there. As well as my personal experience, John Lewis have been voted best retailer at least twice recently by Which? members.
Voted Best Retailer
John Lewis give at least 2 years guarantee on all washing machines and other appliances - and even 3 years on their own brand appliances (plus 5 year guarantees on TV's).
- Main Clearance Section (covering all products )
- Household appliances offers
- Environmentally Friendly Appliances

Comet
Comet shouldn't need much introduction and is, "one of the UK’s leading retailers in electrical products". I've also bought lots of things from Comet over the years and I'm sure most people have too. They have their own service network for aftercare so if you buy an appliance from them and have any problems under guarantee you may get a Comet engineer instead of the manufacturer's engineer depending on which make you bought. This has pros & cons (review soon).

ISE Appliances
Read my reviews on ISE washing machines - ISE overview
A new ISE10 top quality washing machine with 10 year guarantee is also now available
"Longer life span for less environmental damage. This machine is simply outstanding in terms of build quality and performance and is engineered from the outset to maximise the life of the machine. This is done by using higher quality components that are designed to last in excess of 8000 cycles, or over 20 years normal domestic use and by wherever possible, using steel and metal instead of plastic".
This washing machine is in a different league to the rest of the ISE washing machines. This is a much higher quality washing machine aimed at competing with Miele . The main advantage of the ISE10 over Miele is the fact that repairs and technical assistance will be more forthcoming and therefore cheaper. Spare parts should be considerably cheaper too due to the ISE no profit on spares policy - ISE10 washing machine
Currys

Currys are part of the DSG group and claim to be the UK's biggest electrical retailer as well as offering "one of the most extensive product ranges online".
They cover all electrical categories such as kitchen appliances, digital vision & photography. Like Comet they tend to concentrate on competing on price.

Dixons
Dixons are also part of the DSG group and trading with the slogan, - "Low priced electricals & one of the UK's best known brands"
Dixons were one of our best known brands - though not for washing machines. They pulled out of the High Street in 2006 and now only trade online. The DSG group also owns Currys & PC world who both trade online and have stores as well. They also own Pixmania.com (all represented on this page).

Pixmania
Pixmania are another DSG group company. It's a separate company competing with Dixons and Currys yet owned by the same people. In one way it seems like madness, in another it appears a little misleading (although none hide the fact they are part of the DSG group). However, you could argue they have just bought up other companies and kept them running under their own name, which is very common practice.
The chances are that even though they are owned by the same company they are each striving for survival and probably genuine rivals. They therefore may have competing offers.

Tesco Direct Appliances
Tesco Direct appear to be a sub section of Tesco.com. This is another household name not established for white goods who want to get in on the business.
If Tesco Direct want to sell lots of household appliances there may be some good deals to be found. You can usually earn Tesco Club points on purchases.

Summary
Here's a quick summary of the available online traders selling washing machines and other white goods.
- The DSG group owns Dixons | Currys | Pixmania
- DRL Ltd own Appliances Online | Boots Kitchen Appliances
- Sainsburys Kitchen Appliances used to be run by DRL Ltd but now incorporated into the main Sainsburys site. Earn Nectar points at a rate of 2 Nectar points for every £1 spent
- John Lewis (voted best retailer twice by Which? members. Give minimum of 2 years guarantee on all washing machines and 3 years on their own brand. Free delivery too)
- Comet (one of UK's largest retailers)
- Laskys (Laskys is part of one of Europe’s largest electrical retail groups Kesa Electricals which includes Comet with huge buying power which they claim allows them to offer customers the strongest deals in the market)
- Appliance City (Specialising in appliances)
- Tribal UK (Online company specialising in appliances but deliver direct from manufacturers or their dealers)
- Tesco Direct (Online appliance sales arm of Tesco)
- Co-operative Electrical (the world's largest consumer co-operative)
It appears that several household names who are not recognised for dealing in white goods have contracted out their appliance sites to DRL Ltd.
The massive international groups trading under several different companies may offer keener prices because of their incredible buying power but they inevitably may suffer on customer service compared to more specialist or smaller concerns due to their monster sizes. I also don't personally like the fact that they appear to be different companies competing with each other whilst all the time being owned by the same people.
At the end of the day some people only care about price, and others care about price but are mindful of quality of service too. Others still, (like myself) care very much about the standard of service - especially aftersales service if things go wrong and are even prepared to pay a bit more for a higher quality of service. Hopefully this page gives access to a useful range of offers for everyone.
